SUMMER FUN ADGA YOUTH SHOW

Separately Sanctioned ADGA Jr/Sr Doe and Junior Doe Shows

Location: Cumberland Fairgrounds, Teamsters Gate Entrance, Bruce Hill Road, Cumberland, ME 04021

Entry Fees: $20 per exhibitor fee. There is no per-goat fee. Paypal fee is $2. (Paypal does not allow our club to use Friends and Family, the fee covers the club expense for using the service.) Make checks payable to: Southern Maine Dairy Goat Association or submit Paypal payment (including $2 fee) to SMDGA.SHOW.PAY@gmail.com.

Deadline: Entry & Entry Fee must ARRIVE by August 4, 2023. No exceptions. If you have previously sent a check to SMDGA with insufficient funds, then you will be asked to pay via postal order or PayPal prior to the deadline. If you send in a check with isufficient funds, you will be expected to pay all associated fees or risk being able to enter future SMDGA shows.

Day of Show Entries: There are NO day of show entries. If entries are needed to make sanction, the show committee will reach out to individuals in that breed. Per SMDGA Club rules every animal entered must pay entry fee, regardless of sanction needs.

YOUTH RULES:

  • PLEASE check in by 7:30 AM. Show starts at 8:00 AM with Showmanship classes.

  • Participation open to ALL youth ages 5 to 21. Base date for age is August 12, 2023

  • All participants MUST sign up for showmanship. Use the first line of your entry to enter showmanship class. “Class number” will be your age grouping.

  • Youth must tend their own animals as age appropriate.

  • Show officials will not tolerate any unsportsman-like conduct.

  • Show attire includes white shirt, white or khaki pants, belt and closed-toed shoes. Be

    neat and presentable. No bare feet allowed on the Fairgrounds.

  • Base date on animals age will be the date of the show, August 13, 2023.

  • Entries are unlimited.

  • Do NOT enter juniors in the Jr./Senior Combined Show, unless that junior is a part of a group class OR show officials request the entry.

  • No horned animals allowed.

Camping: Campground space is available – RV hookup (electric, septic and water) Reserve your space individually by completing the online application: cumberlandfair.com/registration-forms/camping-registration/

Pens: This is a “trailer show”.  Limited pens are available, you may need to bring your own. Bring your own hay, feed and bedding. Animals may be penned in the ox and horse barns --- but you will need to bring your own bedding and your own gates to accommodate your goats. Pens are on a first come first serve basis and ALL MUST BE CLEANED OUT prior to leaving. Please be considerate of space. Make room for all exhibitors. You may be asked to consolidate space at the discretion of the show officials. No animals will be allowed to be penned in the camp ground. (Animals may be kept inside parked trailers, which will be parked in the Teamsters Field.)

CLEAN UP: Exhibitors MUST LEAVE THEIR AREA IN THE SAME CONDITION AS THEY FOUND IT.

  • All bedding must be raked OUT of any pens you use and removed to a manure pile. Remove ALL trash from pen areas.

  • Bathrooms—Please clean up after yourself If Cumberland Fairgrounds deems bathrooms excessively messy, they will charge an extra fee to the clubs, which means entry fees will go up!

  • Trash Cans—Extra trash bags will be available. Don’t throw trash on the ground. Clean up around your space in the show ring (ie. drink bottles, baby wipes, etc.)
